Old Market House

As a tourist hotspot Brixham has a wealth of restaurants, pubs, bars, cafes and ice cream parlours to suit every palate. But none of them have such a superb location as the Old Market House restaurant. Situated right in the very heart of Brixham town, the Old Market House restaurant could not enjoy a more advantageous position. Sitting right next to the quayside, it offers unparalleled ease of access as you stroll through the town and you can go on to anywhere after visiting.Recently redeveloped from a previous tourist attraction, the Old Market House restaurant has given careful thought to both layout and decor. Downstairs it has very much a 'pub' feel to it, with plenty of chairs scattered about, plus comfy sofas next to a woodburning stove. It has kept a nautical theme throughout the downstairs with a treasure chest among other artefacts placed around the room. If you wish to eat, downstairs offers casual dining with a bar menu and counter service. However if you prefer something a little more formal then head upstairs to the restaurant itself where you can sit and enjoy friendly, efficient table service. There is also an extensive outdoor seating area which offers fabulous views across Brixham harbour; yet another way in which this venue benefits from its unique location. On a clear day it's possible to see right across Tor Bay. The menu at the Old Market House restaurant offers dishes such as bread, olives and oils to start and steak, Ploughman's or pasta to follow. Fresh Brixham mussels are also on the menu, along with crab, bean chilli and burgers. For a lighter choice there are salads and sandwiches, all freshly prepared. If it's that time in the evening then there is a selection of red, white and rose wines to choose from to accompany your meal. No matter whether you want a quick lunch, an evening drink or a leisurely dinner, the Old Market House restaurant is sure to please. Large tables can be accommodated, but it is advisable to book beforehand to avoid disappointment. However do note that due to its location this venue has no allocated parking in Brixham. The nearest car park is the multi-storey.
